I have been married for 63 years. I have 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. My wife is a devoted “saint”. Her patience and support of my writing career while I am in retirement is commendable.
We are both in recovery for 36 years, as of this 2026 date. The lessons we have learned by listening to so many people who have shared in meetings is the foundation of our being clean and sober.
If anything motivates my writing it is the gratitude I feel towards others and Jesus Christ.
My desire is to lead, inspire, and uplift others to the freedom, fulfillment, and inner peace which twelve step living affords.
I have often thought about how some people can’t get the message of recovery through to someone they love. They wish they could just shake them and scream, “why don’t you get it.”
The frustrations we in recovery feel when loved one’s or friends fail to see the miracles awaiting them in life motivates this writing.
I know the pain and despair one feels when in the middle of an addiction to alcohol and drugs. I can relate to the deepest feelings which depression brings onto your life. And, most importantly, I can tell you how to come out of that pain into recovery.
I have been to thousands of meetings between AA, NA, and CR. I have heard many stories of lives turned around by following the simple twelve steps of recovery. I have read, literally, hundreds of recovery books, and I have two published books on Amazon Publishing about how to recover from addictions. My third book is almost ready for publishing.
It’s important to note that the twelve steps offer a relief from any hurt, habit or hang-up, not just alcohol and drug addiction. If you are struggling with an addiction issue, get to a meeting where others have suffered in the same way you do and get the healing you deserve.
My first book, “Recovery: A Journey Through 12 Step Programs”, is an introduction for the newcomer to the process of getting healed through meetings with others in recovery.
My second book, “Recovery: Meeting Makers Make It”, offers a glimpse of the many benefits received by attending these meetings on a regular basis.
One of the sayings heard frequently in AA meetings states, ” rarely have we seen a person fail who thoroughly follows our path”. That’s an astonishing promise that has been proven in millions of lives. Going to meetings, surrounding yourself with like-minded people, picking a sponsor and working the steps with him/her brings a newness to your life that is incomprehensible.

ISOLATION
Isolation is truly a selfish behavior that keeps our addictions active by inhibiting our normal behaviors. There are many reasons people choose to isolate. Guilt and shame are a few of the reasons behind our not wanting to associate with other people while we are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The fear of what…

Peacefulness
In this chaotic world we live in it is necessary for our peace of mind to be able to, quite frankly, be on our mind. A daily adherence to a quiet meditation time is recommended. Try to set aside the same time everyday. Whether you can spend 20 minutes a day to start your day…

Getting out of the fog
One morning I was driving through a thick fog. It was as thick as a good tomato soup. I couldn’t even see the houses lining the street. I uttered a quick prayer as safety became a concern. My main concern was injuring another person walking along the roadside so I slowed to a crawl. I…
